The Order of Malta’s Grand Master Fra’ Matthew Festing was received by the President of the Republic of Honduras, Juan Orlando Hernández, in the Presidential Palace in Tegucigalpa.

In a working meeting there was mutual agreement on the need to further strengthen bilateral cooperation, in particular with regards to healthcare and controlling natural disasters and climate change effects.

The Grand Master referred to the cooperation agreement signed with Honduras and confirmed the Order of Malta’s support through its Honduran Association and Malteser International to improve the health conditions of the Honduran population. He then mentioned the vast donation programme for state hospitals, clinics, schools and kindergartens. All carefully selected to guarantee that the food and medicines reach the final beneficiaries”.

On Sunday 21 February, Fra’ Mattew Festing attended Holy mass celebrated in the Tegucigalpa cathedral by Cardinal Oscar Rodriguez Maradiaga. Afterwards he was received by the Cardinal in his residence.
