Thierry Malcor Deydier de Pierrefeu

Thierry Malcor Deydier de Pierrefeu currently serves as the Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to the Republic of Honduras, and has had a distinguished career in both the public and private sectors across Central America.
In December of 2023, he became the President of the Honduran National Identity Foundation (Fundación Hondureña para la Identidad Nacional) which operates the largest and best-known museum of the country, Museo para la Identidad Nacional (MIN), a multifaceted entity that promotes the rich culture and history of Honduras.
Since April of 2018, he has held the position of President of the board of directors of Mapfre Honduras, a subsidiary of the renowned Spanish insurance company Mapfre. Mapfre Honduras has become the second largest Honduran insurance company by income and has experienced consistent growth in market-share and revenue.
Since February 2006, he has held the position of President and General Manager of Grupo Midence Soto – Pierrefeu (Grupo MSP), a diversified conglomerate operating in Honduras and El Salvador. The group encompasses 11 companies primarily focused on real estate, tourism, and the import and distribution of personal care products, perfumes, and cosmetics. Under his leadership, the group has grown to employ between 1200 and 3000 individuals, depending on current projects. His strategic vision enabled the consolidation of the group’s traditional operations, as well as the expansion into new business ventures and geographic markets.
From 2002 to February 2006, Mr. Deydier de Pierrefeu served as Minister of Tourism in Honduras, under the administration of President Ricardo Maduro. During this time, tourism was elevated to a state policy and recognized as a key sector of the national economy and experienced an average annual growth rate of over 20%, significantly outpacing national GDP growth. By the end of his term, tourism accounted for nearly 10% of GDP and had risen to become the third-largest source of foreign exchange in the country.
In 2001, he was the Financial Director of Ricardo Maduro’s presidential campaign and played a key role in shaping the new government’s tourism development agenda.
His career with Grupo Midence Soto – Pierrefeu began in 1983, where he held various roles, ultimately serving as General Manager from 1993 to 1997 and as President and General Manager from 1997 to 2002.
